Capt Nate Myers

Capt. Nate Myers is USCG-licensed and insured with 10+ years of experience fishing the lower Chesapeake Bay. Primarily focusing on sight-casting for Cobia and Red Drum; there will be other opportunities to target trophy species such as Sheepshead, Black Drum, Tog, Flounder, and others at the seasons permit.

Vessel: We run a Sea Hunt Gamefish 25 that is outfitted with a sight tower, curtains, trolling motor, live scope and sea keeper ride. We have plenty of versatility to run almost anywhere and fish in most conditions.

What to Expect:

  • Safety & Instructions: Upon arrival, your captain will provide a safety briefing and review the game plan for the day. Please note that weather conditions around the bay can be unpredictable, so adjustments to the schedule or plans may be necessary.

  • The Routine: We'll kick off the trip targeting inshore wrecks, spending the first couple of hours fishing productive spots for sheepshead, tautog (tog), black drum, and flounder. As the morning progresses and the sun gets higher, we'll shift our focus to the hunt for cobia and trophy-sized bull redfish.

Sight-casting is the name of the game during this part of the trip. We'll stay on the move, scanning the water and structure for cruising fish, ready to make quick, accurate casts when an opportunity presents itself. Every day is different, and our approach allows us to adapt to conditions and maximize your chances of connecting with some incredible fish.

  • Alternative plans: If weather conditions do not permit sight casting, we may opt to fish for more structure-oriented bottom fishing for the entirely of the trip. This will be covered the day before or the day of fishing.

  • Catch & Release: Be prepared for catch-and-release practices to conserve fish populations, although you can often keep fish within legal limits.

What to Bring:

  • Sun Protection: Sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, and a hat are essential. If possible, only use spray sunscreen before boarding the vessel. Spay sunscreen will leave a yellow residue on anything that it touches and it’s a pain to clean off!

  • Clothing: Dress in layers (lightweight, long-sleeved shirts are best) to manage temperature fluctuations from the morning to the hot sun during the mid-day hours.

  • Footwear: Wear non-slip, comfortable, closed-toe shoes or deck boots.

  • Personal Items: Bring snacks, plenty of water or drinks, and seasickness medication (like Dramamine or Meclizine) taken beforehand.

  • Cooler: There is a cooler on the vessel that can be used for most beverages and snacks that need to be kept cool. If additional coolers are required, please limit each group to one medium-sized hard cooler or smaller bag coolers that can be stowed in the bow storage.

  • Cash or electronic payment: We accept Venmo and Zelle. Tipping the mate 20% is customary.
